Cacao Canela Elixir
This rich, invigorating drink is a great morning beverage, or as an afternoon pick-me-up. Inspiration for this delicious elixir comes from a trip to Guatemala where combining chocolate along with cinnamon and sugar is a known, yummy blend.
ingredients
3-4 oz bittersweet chocolate (cacao)
12-16 oz water (or your choice milk)
Pinch of sea salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp coconut butter
Your choice sweetener: I either use 1-2 tbsp maple syrup, or 3 dates pitted soaked in hot water for 15 minutes
½ tsp pink peppercorns (optional)
instructions
Place chocolate along with water or milk in a stovetop pan, heat on medium high
Break up the chocolate and heat thru (you’ll have smooth chocolaty liquid)
Add salt and cinnamon, stir
Heat until steaming and forming bubbles (a few minutes longer)
Meanwhile, add coconut butter, sweetener, and peppercorns to your blender
Transfer heated chocolate to blender, blend everything for about 1 minute
