Haus of Ojas Turmeric Latte

Turmeric lattes, also called “golden milk,” are the quintessential Ayurvedic drink. There are many versions of this beverage and I encourage to modify per your tastes. In the Ayuredic tradition, this beverage is best for afternoons and evenings due to its relaxing effect on the body. It’s a great way to unwind after your work day has ended and is particularly supportive in stressful times, or as a gentle sleep aid. For these reasons, vata doshas (or those with a vata imbalance) may find this drink particularly supportive.

ingredients

  • 12-16 oz your choice milk (I use coconut milk)

  • 1 tsp ground turmeric

  • 1 tsp ground ginger

  • 1 tsp ground cardamom

  • 1 tsp peppercorns

  • 1 tsp + 2 stems cinnamon bark (optional)

  • 1 tbsp coconut butter

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)

instructions

  1.  Heat milk and all spices over stovetop pan on medium heat

  2. Allow mixture to “boil up” at least twice (you’ll see the entire mixture grow to the rim of the pan, when it does, stir well to bring the mixture back down, repeat 2+ times)

  3. Meanwhile, add coconut butter and maple syrup to your blender

  4. Once turmeric mixture is heated thru (it has boiled up 2+ times, it’s steaming), discard cinnamon bark from the mixture and pour remaining liquid into your blender

  5. Blend all ingredients for about 1 minute

  6. Enjoy immediately
